Tasting Notes

A classic cool climate style Shiraz, elegant and spiced.

Fruit sourced from Shepherd’s Hut Vineyard, Porongurup. Machine harvested. Crushed and destemmed to stainless steel for fermentation. 3 weeks on skins before being pressed. Racked to a mix of French oak Puncheons and barriques (a third new). 12 months barrel maturation.

Deep ruby/violet. Immediately cracked black pepper and anise jumps from the glass, backed by fresh raspberries. The palate is bright and fine, with sinewy tannin providing lovely structure down the palate. A sweet core of raspberry fruit is balanced by spice and olive brine creating a mouthwatering savouriness. Finishes long and fine. A wine with poise and elegance.

Food Accompaniment: An ideal complement to red meats and hearty dishes.

Cellaring Potential: Will continue to improve and develop complexity with age; cellar for 10 years+.
