2025 Castle Rock Estate Riesling – 96 Points
“Another cracking riesling from this wonderful Porongurup vineyard, under the expert gaze of winemaker Rob Diletti. This one captures the season perfectly. You get all the fresh vibrant intensity that is riesling, but it gets delivered with an almost understated textural feel. The nose has a slight lemon scent with deeper notes of lemon pith, and an obvious talcy and musk-like minerality. The palate is so delicately poised and fine, and yet you find the flavour lingers and lingers. This is what riesling is all about. It delivers so much, but with such wonderful restraint.”
2025 Castle Rock Estate ‘Skywalk’ Riesling – 93 Points
“This is a lovely, fine and delicate riesling, showing good flavour intensity, with a tense minerality balance, with some lovely fruit characters. It’s a blend of Castle Rock vineyards and provides a delightful, immediate drinking style of wine. It’s fine, it’s lingering, and there’s so much happening here, as it extends with precision and drive through to a sustained finish. It’s a really great current drinking wine, but everything is there to support some extended cellaring.”
2024 Castle Rock Estate Pinot Noir – 95 Points
“Rob Diletti has proven himself one of the state’s finest winemakers, particularly in his handling of pinot noir. This shows elegance, with slightly savoury, truffly characters and vibrant fruit purity. Aromas of strawberry and cherry lead into a palate that rolls effortlessly, supported by fine tannins and well-integrated oak. Fleshy and textural, while retaining fine acidity. A testament to skilled viticulture and winemaking in a challenging year.”
2024 Castle Rock Estate ‘Diletti’ Pinot Noir – 95 Points
“A different expression from the standard pinot at Castle Rock, this wine reflects greater winemaking influence. Hand-picked and whole bunch fermented, it opens with perfumed aromas of cherry and strawberry. The colour is lighter, yet the wine possesses immense power. Fine chalky tannins and neatly integrated oak carry the wine through to an endlessly long finish. Classy and structured, with the quality to support extended cellaring.”
2024 Castle Rock Estate ‘A&W’ Pinot Noir – 96 Points
“A tribute to Castle Rock’s founders, Wendy and Angelo, this is an exquisitely crafted wine of polish, texture, and depth. The colour is luminous and alive, belying its lightness with a driving intensity. Tannins and oak are finely tuned, harnessing the fruit into a wine that is focused and long through the palate. Despite the warmth of the vintage, the higher-altitude Porongurup site has delivered a refined, balanced expression.”
