2025 Castle Rock Estate Chardonnay

Tasting Notes

A lively, cool climate chardonnay, full of flavour, texture and intrigue. All estate fruit. Machine harvested. Free run and medium pressings. Light settling, racked to a mix of French oak Puncheon and Barrique barrels with some solids, 18% new, minimal stirring. Left in barrel for 9 months.

Pale straw in colour. White florals and stone fruit leap from the glass, with a nice hint of toast. The palate is bright, with a nice richness on entry. Creamy texture compliments ripe peach and nectarine flavours. There’s a subtle green olive saltiness woven throughout the palate. Good acidity bringing freshness and length, finishing clean and crisp. A chardonnay with awesome drinkability.

FOOD ACCOMPANIMENT: This wine will match a wide range of dishes and meals. Think BBQ lunches in the summer-time, fish and chips on the beach or roast chicken dinner in winter.

CELLARING POTENTIAL: Although designed to be enjoyed young while it is fresh and vibrant, this wine will develop complexity while retaining freshness for up to 5 years.
