Castle Rock Estate Riesling 2021

95 POINTS “The Porongurup Range is a low slung granite mountain range that gives its name to the local wine region. It also seems to give the best regional wines a very specific character – a stoniness or minerality that help to create some of the best rieslings anywhere in the country, including this one. Pale watery white in colour, there is a powerful core of tight, youthful fruits. Citrus, blossom and then that rocky, salty element with a slightly riper pear element also coming through. It’s only gently aromatic and keeping many of its cards close to the chest right now. What follows is a dry, fresh, spicy and citrus flavoured palate with good impact and again that stony element really lifting it into the stratosphere. Balance is good and the finish long, all of which is very promising for enjoyment over the next decade, although it could do with a couple of years to find its feet.” Wine Pilot
