We are preparing for harvest which is imminent. Things are looking pretty good in the vineyard…after our wettest year in over 40 years, it has dried out very quickly.
We started watering in late December, keeping the vines healthy, and they have handled the dry and warm conditions beautifully.
The yields are down a little on last year (not as low as 2019 and 2020) and we are anticipating some high-quality fruit to come into the winery. We will keep you up to date with harvest via our socials.
On another note, there is a new ‘future winemaker’ at Castle Rock Estate! Sam, our Assistant Winemaker, and his partner are proud parents to little Olivia, born on the 19th February. Both Mum and Olivia are doing well, but we’re thinking that Sam may be somewhat sleep deprived with vintage and a new baby to wrangle.
In the way of new releases, we have our 2021 Castle Rock Estate Pinot Noir available. Our reserve Pinot Noirs, the new 2021 A&W Pinot Noir and Diletti Pinot Noir are maturing in the cellar and will be released in June.
