ASSESSMENT

Colour: Pale straw with green hues.

Bouquet: A lifted and attractive bouquet showing floral notes of orange blossom and lavender. There are subtle hints of musk stick and passionfruit adding to the complexity and interest of the bouquet.

Palate: A full and flavoursome style Riesling with a rich and balanced palate. The front palate is filled with the floral characters and also the musk stick notes. There is a citrus element which runs the length of the palate and provides a tight mineral structure and a long crisp and clean finish.

REVIEWS

92 Points  "Muskiness, bath salts, lemon sherbet, Passionfruit, perhaps even a smattering of mango.  Softer, rounded feel, acidity not missing, just broader in profile. It fills the palate, delivering length, width and a joyous refreshment. Hint of powdery phenolics just add to the overall whole. It grows in stature with some time, yet another impressive release from this winery." The Vinsomniac, Aug 2019

92 Points  "An impressive Riesling from Castle Rock Estate that's easy on the pocket. Be enticed by seaspray, musk, white flowers, passion fruit husk and cucumber. Lemon and lime juice plus a tangy acidity deliver wonderful refreshment and drive through to a long powdery finish. Smart stuff. Drink now to embrace the freshness." Qwine, Sept 2019

"This is classically styled riesling from Castle Rock Estate in Porongurup, a sub region of Great Southern in Western Australia. Its aroma reminds of lemon and stones, and its palate is dry and has firm, linear acidity. This wine can be approached now or cellared for 5 to 8 years. Rating: Good." Grape Observer, Sept 2019

"... Fresh with lots of flavour, those lovely lime characters appear again, and I just had to gently swish it around my mouth... Hello to crispy, mouthwatering acidity on the finish adding to the delightful length.  Beautifully balanced already and has a terrific mouthfeel too.  I could easily drink a lot of this Riesling.  Easily! An absolute bargain." Words from a Wineglass, Sept 2019

★★★★✩✩  "...The wine is brassy-hued and has jasmine scents and ripe ruby grapefruit front-palate flavour. Kiwifruit, lime zest, spice and honey characters show on the middle palate and flinty acid at the finish. It will cellar for six years and suit a waldorf salad." Newcastle Herald, Sept 2019

"Appealing vibrant aromas of citrus/limes, beautiful delicious palate with lively lime flavours & crisp refreshing acidity on the finish without being ott- TRULY DELIGHTFUL!!"  Wine Assist, Dan Traucki, Aug 2019

"Western Australia’s Great Southern region is definitely throwing out a challenge to more traditional South Australian areas with this prince of white varieties, and it’s easy to taste why. This dry white from Porongurup is refreshingly aromatic and zesty...more" Global Travel Media, John Rozentals, Sept 2019
