Castle Rock Estate is located on the northeast face of the Porongurup mountain range 40 km north east of Albany and 30 km southeast of Mt. Barker. Along with its unique culture of wineries, crafts and accommodation, the Porongurup National Park provides a natural scenic beauty. To allow appreciation of this beauty, many have been created throughout the park with varying of difficulty. The bush track to Castle Rock, from which the winery gets its namesake, is a pleasant 1.5 to 2 hr walk.
The vista from Castle Rock encompasses the Stirling Range, Mount Gardiner and Mounts Adelaide and Clarence with views of King George Sound on clear days. This is the furthest eastern occurrence of Karri trees, most of which found in Walpole. During spring the porongurups are covered in vibrant splashes of colour with Wattles, Southern Cross, Hoveas and 20 species of Orchids.
